Maryland Dad Sings Praises of Cargo Shorts

Fashion trends come and go, but don’t tell that to Kevin “Murph” Murphy, a forty-six year old father of three from Montgomery Village, Maryland, who owns over eleven pairs of cargo shorts and three pairs of crocs.

“When I was in high school, my dad dressed like an ass. And it embarrassed the hell out of me, so I vowed that I would never do that to my kids,” said Murphy, who is a stay-at-home dad of three girls who go to various catholic schools in the area. “Luckily, I found that a look that is timeless and cool, and I have no intention of changing that.”

Murphy explained that his style evolved from studying how other dads his age dressed and combining those elements with popular fashion trends among his daughters and their friends.

“Sometimes I’d wear some shirts from Abercrombie and Fitch, until that stopped being cool,” said Murphy. “Then it was Aeropostale for a while. But I have always stuck with the cargo shorts and crocs. Yeah, they look cool, but they are also very comfortable.”

Other dads have noticed his style and have asked his advice on how they can avoid looking middle-aged. Murphy tries to help them out when he can.

“No one wants to look old, so try and pick up on the hottest trends among young people and buy that stuff. It’s that simple,” he said.

Hi, I'm Laura Ritz and the Intern here at The Crabwrapper. I hear that Maryland apologized for that whole slavery thing--so I have to ask how the hell they can make me bust my ass and not pay me a cent? Oh, that's right, it is for the "experience." Well, to make ends meet, you can always catch up with me at McDoogals in the Dena!
